A: The league provides hats and jersey tops for all players. For every team we also provide baseballs, bats, a couple of helmets and catching gear. Families are expected to provide the following:
- Bat (if you don't want to use the league issued bats)
- Helmet (if you don't want to use the helmets provided by the league)
- Grey baseball pants (for those in 3rd-8th grade)
If your son or daughter is in K-2, cleats and baseball pants are not required, but strongly suggested.
A: There are new bat standards that are required for those in K-4th grade. Here is a link to all the pertinent information. PLEASE DO NOT buy a bat for those in K-4th grade before visiting this link. The league will not be able to refund your purchase if you buy an illegal bat.
JBO rules (for those in 5th-8th grade) have not changed from previous years. Please click here for information on allowed bats for JBO.
A: The coach will determine practice day(s) and times but probably 2 days a week until games start. Practices/games will start after spring break.
T-ball, Rookie, and Minors typically play 2 games a week . Monday-Friday games start at 5:30pm. Saturday/Sunday games will vary from 8am-5:30pm. Schedules will be released sometime around Spring Break.
JBO games for grade 5th-8th will take place during the week and involve travel out of town. Games typically start between 5:30-6pm. Weekend games and tournaments are possible but not normal.
Every player in 3rd-8th grade will need to be evaluated in during tryouts the weekend of March 10-11. More info will be sent to those who register by March 1st.
Players in K-2nd grade will NOT have a tryout, but will be placed on teams by the league (the default is to place them on teams with kids from their elementary school, though that is not always the case).
A: For Cal Ripken (K-4th) all games are at one of the following local fields:
- Jaquith Park (Newberg)

For JBO, half of the games will be in Newberg at Jaquith Park, and the other half will be in other towns based on who is in our league. We play in the Westside Youth Baseball League.
